Beef Carbonnade
Main Course
Tender beef ribs are cooked to perfection in malty stout. This gorgeous slow cooked dish is a one pot wonder.

Ingredients
- 450g beef rib sticks
- 1/2 pc onion, shredded
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 200ml stout
- 250ml beef stock (1 beef stock cube)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper
- a little parsley
Cooking Method

- 1. Cut beef rib sticks into 1 inch cubes. Heat 2 tablespoons oil, saute beef cubes until slightly golden. Set aside.

- 2. Stir fry the shredded onion with the same pan until golden and soft. Stir in flour, fry well. Add tomato paste.

- 3. Pour in stout and beef stock, bring to a boil. Return beef cubes and add bay leaf. Bring to a boil again, simmer at low heat with a lid on for 1-1.5 hour or until beef is tender.

- 4. Season to taste, sprinkle in parsley to serve.
